"We ARE the Sigma Nu Snakes from East Carolina"

Voight Verne Pritchard

Voight Verne Pritchard, 75, Goldsboro, N.C., passed away Aug. 16, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Voight Victor Pritchard and Eba Gatlin Pritchard, and was born in Tarboro and raised in Bertie County.

Voight graduated from East Carolina University, where he was one of the eighteen18 charter members of the Kappa Sigma Nu colony that became the Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu, the first social fraternity on the East Carolina campus.

It was while attending East Carolina University that he met his loving wife of 52 years, Sylvia Martin Pritchard.
He worked for Commercial Credit Corp. for 32 years, living in Rocky Mount, Kinston and Goldsboro.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. James H. Harry officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Voight was a member of the Exchange Club and Golden K. He enjoyed playing golf, and was a member of Walnut Creek Country Club for many years. He was also a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and participated in the United Methodist Men and the J. Paul Edwards Sunday school class.

Voight loved to spend time at Emerald Isle. East Carolina University athletics were also a huge part of his life, and he was a proud, longtime member of the Pirates Club.

Voight is survived by his wife, Sylvia Martin Pritchard; his daughter, Jimi Pritchard Crampton; his grandsons, Kenneth Jamison Crampton and Joshua Elias Crampton; his sister-in-law, Margaret Martin Cekada; brother-in-law, Emil Cekada; a nephew, Emil James Cekada; a niece, Emily Cekada Drayyer; as well as many cousins and friends. Voight had many aunts, uncles and cousins on his father's side of the family, many of whom still live in Virginia.

With loving gratitude, the family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and caregivers who showed him love at Home Health and Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Carolina University Educational Foundation, Ward Sports Medicine Building, Suite 304, Greenville, N.C., 27858, or St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
