The Creed

The Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu has returned to the campus of East Carolina University. The Snakes are back!

2nd Snake Reunion-Eta Beta's 50th Anniversary
The 2nd Snake Reunion and 50th Anniversary of Sigma Nu's Eta Beta Chapter was held May 5-7, 2009 in the Raleigh-Durham area.
If you attended the 2009 Snake Reunion we ask that you send a copy of any and all photos you may have taken to T. Jerry Williams at 6900 Clear Sailing Lane, Raleigh, NC 27615 or you can email them, up to five photos at a time, to TJW@TJWLC.COM for possible posting on this website. If you have questions call him at 919-607-4339.  The sooner you send your photos the sooner they will be posted.

First Charter Snake Reunion has just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Eta Beta Charter of Sigma Nu at East Carolina College.  The chapter was established in 1959. By allowing your cursor to hover over the fist item in the site Menu you can navigate to the pages of photos now on the site and those that will be added once additional photos are provided by others in attendance.

Some of us old timers find it hard to believe that it was actually 50 years ago that the First Charter of the Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu became a chapter from the Kappa Sigma Nu Colony on the campus of what is now East Carolina University in Greenvlle, NC (USA).

Our 50th Anniversary Celebration of Eta Beta and the 2nd Annual Snake Reunion took place  May 5-7, 2009 at the Sheraton Imperial on I-40 in Raleigh-Durham.  All Sigma Nu brothers and and Kappa Sigma Nu's along with Bull Pledges, Pledges and friends of those individuals who were part of the First Charter, from 1959 thorugh 1967, were invited and encouraged to attend. We missed those who didn't!

Approximately 16 participated in the "early bird" event at the Ale House, out on HWY 70, that first evening and the next day some of our group played golf (but nobody was bragging about their golf score on Thursday morning when the Snakes met to recap their activities during the time-frame between Snake Reunion 1 and Snake Reunion 2. However, we're anxious to receive photos from that Sigma Nu golf extravaganza.

Approximately 30 brothers did managed to attend the SR2 annual meeting on Thursday morning. They were on hand when Brother Jim Stout recognized and honored each of our fallen brothers by name.

We had 70 participants in the Wednesday evening SR2 function, where Roddy Jones, our host at the Sheraton Imperial, arranged a fantastic barbecue and pig picking, inside the Sheraton. Food was excellent throughout the event and the staff was excellent as well.

Around 34 snakes and their snake-ettes participated in the Thursday evening concluding event. It featured a wonderful mean and beach music.

Since this was our second Snake Reunion we've labeled it SR 2, since SR 1 was such a big hit in the early fall of 2008. For 2010  we'll be planning SR3. Also note the Archive photos from SR 1 do still remain on this site under Archives. Again, let your cusor hover over Archives in the menu to locate those web pages from the 2008 reunion.

And too, watch this site and your email for notification of dates and location to be set by the Snake Reunion High Council for SR 3 in 2010. Those of you who missed SR1 and SR2 will not want to miss SR3.

Before you even think about not attending SR 3, please go through this site and view the photos and news from SR 2 and archives from SR 1. Don't miss our next First Charter Snake Reunion Celebration!
