"We ARE the Sigma Nu Snakes from East Carolina"

Sigma Nu Reunion of East Carolina First Charter Snakes (1959-1967)
East Carolina Snakes Reunited
September 3 & 4, 2008 in Raleigh-Durham area

This is the official online site of the "2008 Snake Reunion" of Sigma Nu Alumni from East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina (USA), held September 3 & 4, 2008, in the Raleigh-Durham area. Our Brothers from the ECU Kappa Sigma Nu Colony were also invited to participate since their efforts led to establishment of the First Charter of the Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu, in Greenville.

This coverage of the 2008 Snake Reunion has been approved by the Snake Reunion High Council, following the Snake Reunion business meeting on September 4, 2008, at the Sheraton Imperial, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (USA).

Membership and participation in this new organization has been limited to those East Carolina First Charter alumni (Brothers and Pledges) who became affiliated with Sigma Nu fraternity directly or through Kappa Sigma Nu, on or before the end of 1967. They represent the First Charter members of the Sigma Nu Brotherhood at East Carolina for the period between 1959 and 1967. Also invited to participate are  spouses, significant others and special friends of Sigma Nu.

In order to share our "2008 Snake Reunion" festivities with those who were not able to attend and with those who just want a reminder of the good time had by all, we have posted on this site a number of photos in the form of slide shows. Most pages with slide-shows have more than one slide presentation so be sure to scroll all the way to the end of each page to make sure you do not miss anything. Some of these pages are quite long. Also, feel free to share them with your family. We have also tried to feature a full compliment of photos from each reunion event. Many thanks to those who willingly agreed to share their photos!

Once you go to a page that features a slide-show, please allow a few seconds for the presentation to load. Then you may click on the center arrow below the larger photo to begin the slide presentation. You will have about five or six seconds between slides. You may also click on a thumbnail photo to bring up a specific photo to save on your computer and print later.

Together with spouses and significant others, a grand time was had by all. Brothers from as far away as Hawaii and California participated in our first gathering of the ECU Snakes.

Remember, this site is dedicated to the Brothers, Pledges, wives and friends of Sigma Nu alumni and to the Kappa Sigma Nu Colony that made Sigma Nu the first social fraternity on the East Carolina campus.

A special page has been dedicated to our Brothers and Pledges who are no longer with us but who can now be remembered by all of us. Be sure to view the "In Rememberance...." page on this site. Also, feel free to share it with the family members of any deceased Brother or Pledge.

Our Snake Reunion logo was provided by Bobby Tuttle (HB 103). Tut was also responsible for providing the Snake Reunion golf shirts that you will see in several photos. Next year everybody will want one.

Brothers, Pledges, spouses and significant others are urged to bookmark this site and check for Sigma Nu Alumni news, notices and plans for our 50th Anniversary celebration of the establishment of our old initial Eta Beta Chapter.  That should really be a Snake Reunion in 2009.

Any Eta Beta Sigma Nu (Brother or Pledge) affiliated with the First Charter group before the end of 1967, who would like to become a part of future Snake Reunions, should click on the
Personal Information Form available here. Once completed that form should be sent to millardmaloney@att.net.

A brief Sigma Nu roster of the initial Eta Beta Chapter or First Charter group can be found by clicking here. That roster also lists those members of the Kappa Sigma Nu Colony, who wanted to be listed. Again this is for Brothers and Pledges who became affiliated with Sigma Nu on or before the initial chapter shut down in 1967. Such a roster may come in handy for those who were unable to attend the 2008 Snake Reunion. And too, please know we missed all of you who could not make the reunion, for whatever reason.

There will be a "2009 Snake Reunion" in the Raleigh-Durham area May 5-7, 2008, so stay tuned.

Also, with the slide presentations posted, some of these pages are quite long.  Therefore, we have added a
Back to Top of Page link at the bottom of each page just before the page footer to take you right back to the top of that page.

"Nu News" is now our new second page where we will now post some updates that some may find of interest. Check it out from time to time.

Note:  If you have a question about the 2008 Snake Reunion, plans for 2009 and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the First Charter of the Eta Beta Chapter, please contact Millard D. Maloney, HB 88, via email at millardmaloney@att.net and be sure to put the words Sigma Nu in the subject line.
