William Richard Collier, HB 96: Richard, age 71, died in his home on July 14, 2016 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Richard was born on August 22, 1944 in Burlington, NC. He graduated from Princess Anne High School and East Carolina University with a degree in Business, where he was also a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved being surrounded by family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Berry Collier, and their four children and seven grandchildren; son Jim and son-in-law Stuart Verseman; son Hunter Collier and future daughter-in-law Kara Wood; daughter Amy Howard and son-in-law Scott Howard; son Chip Collier. The family expressed they were thankful for the assistance of his caregiver, Kim.
Richard was cremated and a memorial service was later held in his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family made a request that donations in Richard’s memory be made to a charity of your choice or one of the following: COPD Foundation, Va. Beach Rescue Squad Foundation, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Ducks Unlimited or American Indian College Fund.
